Our Dark Roast Peanut Butter is a unique blend that is sugar-free, suitable for vegans, and contains no palm oil or added preservatives. Only the good stuff! It is crafted from the finest peanuts, delivering a rich, deep flavour.

 

2. Why was your peanut butter previously discontinued?

We made the difficult decision to discontinue our peanut butter after discovering that a few batches were exposed to moisture during transportation, causing a rise in aflatoxin levels. Ensuring the health and safety of our customers is our top priority, so we paused production to address this issue and make sure that our peanut butter comes back cleaner and better than ever.

 

3. What is aflatoxin, and how did it affect your peanut butter?

Aflatoxin is a naturally occurring toxin produced by certain fungi, which can contaminate peanuts. During transportation, a few batches of our peanuts were exposed to conditions that allowed aflatoxin to develop, prompting us to take immediate action to ensure the safety and quality of our product.

 

4. How have you addressed the aflatoxin issue?

We have collaborated with a new partner that uses world-class technology, including the only machine in South Africa capable of shaving off a section of peanuts to significantly reduce the level of aflatoxin.

 

5. Are your peanuts sourced responsibly?

Yes, we are committed to supporting small-scale family farmers in Africa. Our supply chain remains intact, and we continue to work closely with our farmers to bring you high-quality, responsibly-sourced peanuts.

 

6. Is your peanut butter safe to consume now?

Absolutely. With our new processes and advanced technology, we have ensured that our Dark Roast Peanut Butter is safe, high-quality, and free from harmful levels of aflatoxin.

 

7. Why is there no palm oil in your peanut butter?

We believe in creating products that are not only delicious but also environmentally friendly. Palm oil production is a major driver of deforestation and habitat destruction. By excluding palm oil from our recipe, we contribute to more sustainable and ethical food production practices.
